The Division of College Advancement seeks applications for an Assistant to the Vice President for College Advancement.  Reporting to and working closely with the Vice President, the successful candidate will provide administrative support to the VP and work cohesively with the five departments in the division. 

The goal of the division is to portray a true understanding of TCNJ among its external and internal constituencies with an eye toward engendering interest and support, both financial and other, to advance the mission of the College.  College Advancement encompasses the areas of:

  • Advancement Services

  • Development and Alumni Engagement

  • Government and Community Relations

  • Communications, Marketing and Brand Management

  • TCNJ Foundation

The successful candidate will support the Vice President for College Advancement in carrying out the day-to-day operations of the office.  The Assistant to the Vice President will serve as primary liaison to the five departments within the division.  S/he will administer the department budget, coordinate travel, provide writing support related to correspondence with donors and other constituents, oversee projects including but not limited to ongoing monitoring of best practices in higher education advancement, record minutes of TCNJ Foundation board and committee meetings, produce content for presentations, and maintain files/records of the office.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Applicants who do not possess a degree may substitute experience on a year for year basis.

  • Strong customer service experience.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, including use of technology.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in higher education or not-for-profit sector.

  • Experience in administrative office.

  • Experience with Oracle/PeopleSoft applications.

Contact Information:

This position is a New Jersey Civil Service position with the state title Professional Services Specialist 4A. It is included for membership in the Communication Workers of America (CWA) bargaining unit. The starting salary for this position is Range P18, Step 1, $45,053.24. Permanent appointment to this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a 4-month probationary period to access the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
