Public Health Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor

We are seeking a faculty member interested in public health education to teach in the public health bachelor’s degree program. Candidates should be able to teach introduction to public health and additional courses in the following content areas: Human Disease & Epidemiology; Health Policy & Administration; Public Health Promotion; and Behavioral Public Health; supervise and facilitate internship experiences; mentor and advise undergraduate students.  Teaching load will be 10-12 credit hours per semester.  Position begins August 2017.

The major is unique at Miami in that it is housed in both the College of Education, Health and Society (CEHS) and the College of Arts and Science (CAS).

Require:  Master’s degree in Public Health (for appointment as Instructor); excellent communication and networking skills; potential for high quality undergraduate teaching in public health; knowledge of and experience with multicultural populations; doctoral degree in public health or closely related field (for appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor).  For this position, Miami University will not sponsor applicants for H-1B work status. 

Desire: Experience in interdisciplinary teaching; problem-based learning; service learning and/or facilitating community-based partnerships is a plus.  Candidates with experience integrating technology into the classroom, and/or online or hybrid teaching are also encouraged to apply.

The Public Health degree at Miami builds on the University’s strengths in four areas: Human Disease & Epidemiology; Health Policy & Administration; Public Health Promotion; and Behavioral Public Health. Students will choose a concentration in one of these specialty areas, as well as complete a core curriculum covering the critical elements of public health.
