The University of North Dakota (UND) in Grand Forks is seeking a Vice President (VP) for University Relations. The VP will report to the President and join a team of dynamic, engaged and collaborative Vice Presidents during an exciting time. UND is implementing a bold, new One UND Strategic Plan that will set the course for the next several years. The new VP will play a leading role in realizing the University’s vision of becoming the Premier Flagship University in the Northern Plains. As part of the One UND Strategic Plan, UND is committing $3 million to marketing and communication efforts.

The successful candidate will possess a high quality blend of strategic and operational skills; enjoy the unique challenges and rewards of working as part of a leadership team in an organization that values collaboration; and possess strong relationship-building skills to effectively create and maintain solid working relationships on behalf of UND with the State of North Dakota and the Grand Forks community. 

The Vice President will establish strategic directions, priorities and goals for the overall University Relations division and for each office within the division by assuring alignment with the One UND Strategic Plan. The VP will:

  • Develop, lead and implement an integrated strategic marketing and communication plan in partnership with UND leadership.
  • Lead University-wide efforts to make UND more visible by telling the UND story through new and traditional media and expanding the strategic use of new communication technologies.
  • Anticipate, prepare for and deal with the public relations aspects of unusual or crisis situations, and implement a crisis communication plan when the need arises.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for University events to communicate key messages and facilitate connections made beyond the UND campus.
