Research Associate, Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy (#32378)
Job Description: The Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy (FIEA) at the University of Central Florida, College of Arts and Humanities seeks excellent candidates for a research associate position that will split half time with the UCF School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD). The anticipated start date for this position is fall 2017.
For FIEA, this position will explore applied research opportunities for FIEA students. They will facilitate the development of the appropriate interdisciplinary relationships within the UCF community, regionally and globally. This position will administer the partnerships, grant applications and serve as principal investigator where needed. This person will coordinate with the UCF Business Incubator Program, College of Medicine, College of Education and Human Performance, I-Corp, the Applied Research Institute and various other university programs to expand FIEA involvement in partnership opportunities. They will also work to establish graduate research associate opportunities to support the research and grant opportunities found.
For SVAD, this person will work alongside SVAD faculty and administration to explore and find internship opportunities for SVAD undergraduate and graduate students. FIEA and SVAD understand there will be overlap in these areas and it is the intention that these overlaps will provide opportunities for students in both departments.
Other responsibilities include traveling as necessary to multiple departments, institutes and programs within the university. There may also be significant time spent exploring, developing and expanding various research opportunities and partnerships with industry leaders within the greater Central Florida region and beyond.
Position Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must possess a master’s degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution and have a minimum of five years of experience in a technology based field. Appropriate disciplines include computer science, engineering, business administration, game design, digital media, art, film/theatre or media-related discipline.
Preferences: Ten years of experience in business management in a technology based field. Established partnerships or history with game, military, or medical industries.
