The Assistant Dean for Student Support and Success will create a separate student support unit within the school that encompasses recruitment, admissions, academic advisement and all other functions related to current and prospective students’ capacity to perform in school, stay in school, earn timely degrees, and use their new knowledge and credentials to advance. All staff in the school who work in these areas will directly report to the Assistant Dean, or will have a dotted line report to the Assistant Dean. This unit, collectively, will be responsible for creating an effective recruitment and enrollment funnel into the school, and for developing a proactive approach to student services that leads to improved retention and timely graduation rates for SoPA students.


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree and five years of directly related experience in higher education student academic advisement and support, to include progressively responsible management experience in all of the following areas: recruitment and admissions, academic advisement and support, staff management and supervision, use of qualitative and quantitative data to inform service development and operations OR High School Diploma/Equivalent and 11 years years of directly related experience in higher education student academic advisement and support, to include progressively responsible management experience in all of the following areas: recruitment and admissions, academic advisement and support, staff management and supervision, use of qualitative and quantitative data to inform service development and operations.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
1.Knowledge of current trends, research, and data related to higher education’s student services.
2.Ability to lead and supervise staff.
3.Ability to use data analytics to develop plans for student recruitment and retention.
4.Knowledge of access issues to ensure that nontraditional students gain full support from all curricular and co-curricular opportunities for success.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
An earned doctorate in a field relevant to the position.
