Occupational Summary

The Nicholas School of the Environment is seeking a paid intern to serve as a Writing Specialist for Recruitment. Position will be responsible for identifying, coordinating, developing and executing a series of recruitment communications for the Master of Environmental Management (MEM) and Master of Forestry (MF) programs, the online MEM program and for undergraduate majors and courses.

This is a full-time position reporting to Associate Dean for Marketing & Communications and is funded through June 30, 2018.

Responsibilities

Works with Communications team and Student Services team to develop and execute a calendar of communications directed at prospective residential MEM & MF students and online MEM students. Specifically, will be responsible for coordinating communications and scheduling with the Student Services team.

Works with Communications team and Student Services team to evaluate metrics to determine success of various campaigns and utilizes data to make recommendations for future communications.

Works with Communications team and Student Services to identify, develop and write specific communications to MEM & MF prospective students and online MEM students including key program and School features, news/features featuring current students, alums and faculty, research areas, and relevant environmental issues, and that can be used on the web site and in Dukenvironment magazine. Incorporates recommendations from consultants, focus groups, etc. into communications.

Works with Communications team to identify infographics, news stories and videos that can be used to support prospective communications.

Works with undergraduate program coordinator and Communications team to develop and/or identify a set of communications that can be used to send to undergrad majors and to lists for all undergrad programs (Duke students who indicate on entering an interest in environment, earth sciences or marine sciences).

Develops an understanding of Mail Chimp and Ellucian (Exact Target), and can step in as back up for Student Services for communication dissemination, as needed.
