Posting Summary:
Library Assistants prepare materials for access by transcribing basic bibliographic information of material into the catalog and prepping shelves to hold the material. They perform searches to identify existing bibliographic records of held material and edit data in various databases. They also apply basic preservation techniques to repair damaged materials. Library Assistants are the first point of contact for library patrons, and interact with students, faculty, and library staff to answer questions related to their department. They resolve routine problems with library service points, solve or report equipment and facility problems, and do some administrative tasks. Work is performed under supervision, or done according to established protocol.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently and with staff to solve problems.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting to transfer library materials.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
