The University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus seeks a full-time, University Staff (non-classified), Assistant to Childcare Director to work in the Addiction Research and Treatment Services (ARTS) at Ft. This position acts as an assistant to the Director and will coordinate and approve break and time off schedules for other employees when the director is not present or on an as needed basis. Will determine care routines for children in the absence of the director and act as her substitute to provide oversight for staff and families when the director is not present for more than 60% in a given day of operation. Examples of Work Performed:
This position will be assigned a classroom and act as an ECT to provide direct child care to children and supportive services to families by meeting all other children's needs and engaging families in expanding their knowledge about early care and education; provide an enriching learning environment for infants, toddlers and preschoolers; follow all agency child care, licensing and quality standards; provide developmentally appropriate play to children; follow curriculum guidelines (Creative Curriculum); coordinate services with early intervention and ancillary providers, collaborate with The Haven treatment team regarding about issues related to a child's health or parenting/behavioral concerns; collaborate with community partners such as CPP, DPP, ELV, DECC, etc., and perform other duties that are assigned or required.
Salary and Benefits:
The hiring salary for this position is $29,136 and is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

*Must be at least 18 year of age.
*One year of experience which included responsibility for determining and implementing daily lesson plans for the education and recreational activities for assigned children or classes
*Completion of twelve (12) semester hours from an accredited college or university in childhood development or early childhood education and nine months of verified experience in the care of for or more children less than six years of age who are not related to the individual. One of the three (3) semester hour courses must be either introduction to Early Childhood Education or Guidance Strategies.
Conditions of Employment:
* Must agree to fingerprinting and criminal background check. Required background checks include a review with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) AND the Central Registry of Child Protection (Trails).
* Subject to pre-employment, post-accident or incident or reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing per UCD Addiction Research and Treatment Services Department Policies.

*Prior supervisory experience
*Use of Creative Curriculum and/or Teaching Strategies Gold
*Experience in a Qualistar rated program
*Experience providing services to low income families or at risk children with a focus on women's issues (i.e. trauma; domestic violence; mental health treatment; substance use disorder; parenting and child development; barriers women experience in treatment such as childcare, employment, finding a job that pays enough to support their family; etc.)
*Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate expectations for young children 6 weeks through 5 years of age
*Ability to stay calm in all situations and to respond to children in a quiet, reassuring manner
*Ability to adapt, adjust and/or modify activities to meet the developmental needs of each child Ability to be open-minded and non-judgmental
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
*Ability to manage difficult behaviors Ability to comply with established rules, policies and procedures
*Ability to develop healthy relationships with clients
*Ability to establish boundaries with clients
*Awareness of healthy nutrition practices for ages 6 weeks to 12 years of age.
