ADJUNCT FACULTY - Developmental Reading and English - Fall 2017
College of DuPage seeks adjunct faculty members to teach courses.
Opportunities may exist to teach a flexible schedule that may include teaching assignments during days, evenings and weekends.
Position Title: ADJUNCT FACULTY - Developmental Reading and English - Fall 2017
Duties of Position:
Adjunct Faculty instructors at College of DuPage are responsible for course planning and instruction in classroom, lab, or clinical settings, courses may be conducted in various delivery modes, such as, face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and/or blended formats. In addition, adjunct faculty are responsible for student evaluation, and timely and accurate submission of required paperwork related to instruction.
Experience and Education:
The ideal candidate will have an earned Master's Degree in one of the following areas: English Education, Literacy, English or related discipline, so long as the degree coursework has 24 or more credits in any combination of the areas below or applicable Illinois state test:
- Foundations of reading
- Content area reading
- Assessment and diagnosis of reading problems
- Developmental and remedial reading instruction and support
- Developmental and remedial materials and resources
- Literature appropriate to students across all grade ranges
- Reading practicum
- or successful completion of the Illinois state Reading Teacher or Reading Specialist test
A Master's degree in a related field as determined by the Dean, with the licensure or credential of reading specialist will also be considered.
This candidate should have college level teaching experience. However, secondary education experience is acceptable. This position is intended to teach developmental reading courses as well as composition courses. Thus it is preferred that the candidate have experience in both areas. The emphasis will be on reading courses, with the option of composition courses to be assigned if needed.
