Duties of Position:  Evaluates college credit from regionally accredited institutions in relation to acceptability and placement relative to specific degree/certificate requirements.  Review applications for graduation and advise students regarding graduation eligibility status.

General Function

Evaluates academic credit from other institutions to determine acceptability and placement of transfer credit.  Responsible for maintaining curriculum changes within the CAPP and Degree Works module in Banner.  Collaborates with the College Curriculum Specialist updating and validating both existing and new degrees and certificates and provides technical support as needed.  Provides related training to both students and staff on how to interpret the CAPP/Degree Works audit. Reviews applications for graduation and advises students regarding eligibility status. Assists with the college Degree/Certificate completion initiative and provide general support to the Registrar’s Office.

Characteristic Duties

Evaluates college credit from regionally accredited institutions in relation to acceptability and placement relative to specific degree/certificate requirements.

Advise students of remaining graduation requirements and graduation eligibility.  Coordinates the preparation of information needed for graduation evaluations and hires student aides for related functions.

Provides assistance to the Registrar  with the implementation of student centered initiatives designed to support an increase in retention and graduation rates including but not limited to organizing the preparation of information needed for graduation evaluations, including processing unofficial transcripts, utilizing the degree audit module and communicating results with the graduating student population. 

Responsible for identifying and tracking student progress as they continue through successful completion of a degree or certificate program.  Work with academic counselors to ensure proper course placement.  Reviews student files for completion and communicates results with students.

Investigates and stays abreast of statewide and local institutional policies and procedures related to degree verification and curriculum maintenance.

Researches student records and communicates with students’ inquiries regarding evaluations of transfer credit and graduation requirements.

Assists with the coordination and preparation of the Commencement and Convocation ceremonies.

Handles substantial phone/personal contact with students, faculty and staff.

Performs related duties as assigned and participates in college and divisional committee meetings as appropriate.

Assist with posting degrees and certificates to the student academic record.

Utilizes knowledge of the institution to ensure that the College policies and procedures are applied consistently.

Adjusts work schedule to accommodate periods of increased activity, including evenings and weekends.

Works independently to provide support and enhancement of student services and registrar unit operations.

Supervision

Under the direct supervision of the Registrar, receives oral and written instructions as required.  May provide direction to student records support staff.

Education/Experience

Education:        Bachelor’s degree required in student personnel, education, communication or related field.

Experience:     Two to three years in of professional experience in student records evaluation and supervision or related area.  Knowledge and experience with student records system implementation and maintenance.
