Assistant Professor of Corporate Finance/Financial Markets
The Department of Finance, Insurance and Law in the College of Business seeks a tenure-track scholar at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 16, 2018 with research and teaching interest in Corporate Finance or Financial Markets. The primary teaching need is at the undergraduate level, face-to-face or online, and graduate instruction is possible. The anticipated teaching load for this 9-month position is three courses or the equivalent per semester. Average department class size is 29 students.
The Department of Finance, Insurance and Law is one of four departments (along with Accounting, Management & Quantitative Methods, and Marketing) in the College of Business at Illinois State University. AACSB International accredits the College in both Accounting and Business. In 2016-2017, the college enrolled approximately 3,900 undergraduates and 150 master degree students. The Department of Finance, Insurance and Law has 25 faculty members, offers a major in Finance and a major in Risk Management and Insurance, and has a combined 902 undergraduate majors. There also a growing Financial Planning degree program. Industry outreach is fostered by the Institute for Financial Planning and Analysis, housed within the department. 1. Qualified candidates hold a Ph.D. in Finance, Insurance or a business-related field. ABDs will be considered if close to completion. 2. For teaching positions, state law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.
