The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Genetics is seeking applications for the position of Chief, Section of Genetics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO. Appointment will be at the Associate Professor or Professor level, as appropriate. The successful candidate will lead the diverse activities of the Section, which includes an accomplished group of researchers studying a wide array of genetic disorders, a large and comprehensive clinical group, and operates full-service biochemical and molecular clinical genetics laboratories. In addition, the successful candidate will provide leadership in building outstanding independent research programs in the area of medical genetics or genomics. Applicants must have a strong record of accomplishment in biomedical research, current NIH or other extramural funding, and a demonstrated commitment to education of medical and graduate students, fellows, and residents.

Job Responsibilities:

The Section is located on the all-new Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO. The Anschutz Campus includes the University of Colorado School of Medicine educational and research facilities, Children's Hospital, and the University of Colorado Hospital, as well as Graduate School biomedical training programs, the Colorado School of Public Health, the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the School of Dentistry, and the College of Nursing. The successful candidate is expected to lead the diverse activities of the Section, and to lead and build outstanding independent research programs in the area of medical genetics or genomics. Applicants must have a strong record of accomplishment in biomedical research, current NIH or other extramural funding, and a demonstrated commitment to education of medical and graduate students, fellows, and residents. M.D. appointees may be engaged in clinical care.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong record of accomplishment in biomedical research, and a demonstrated commitment to education of medical and graduate students, fellows and residents.

Minimum Requirements

MD and/or PhD, Associate Professor or Professor level, active research career with current US grant funding



Preferred Qualifications

Previous leadership experience, previous experience building a research program in the area of medical genetics or genomics, and previous teaching/mentoring experience.
