Examples of Work Performed
This position holder will have responsibility for, and perform various tests and tasks related to, one or more research projects. Specifically, the she or he will perform tissue culture, in vitro viral infection, ELISA and other antibody and cytokine assays; PCR and other molecular assays, immunostaining, ELISPOT, proliferation assays and flow cytometry. The work will involve human specimens, and require working with both blood-borne pathogens and radioactivity.
A doctoral degree in a human biology-related area.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Essential functions include performing a variety of immunological and molecular assays, which require sterile laboratory technique and must be carried out in biosafety cabinets. In addition, because this position may involve working with radioactivity and blood-borne pathogens, the position holder must be comfortable with these conditions.
- Excellent fund of knowledge in human immunology
- Good statistical fund of knowledge
- Experience with 6-color flow cytometry
