Department of Pediatrics has an opening for a full time Associate Professor/Professor, Vice Chair for Clinical Operations to work in the Department of Pediatrics at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado is a leader in research and consistently ranks among the top Pediatric departments in NIH grant funding, with programs of excellence in education, basic science, clinical care, outcomes, and translational research.

The University of Colorado Denver is seeking nominations and applications for the position of Associate Professor/Professor, Vice Chair for Clinical Operations. Children's Hospital Colorado is a 318-bed state-of-the-art facility located on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado that opened in fall 2007, and is expanding with a new bed tower planned to open in fall 2012 that will increase capacity eventually to 456 beds.

Job Responsibilities:

The University of Colorado School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics and Children's Hospital Colorado is conducting a national search to recruit a 0.5 FTE Vice Chair for Clinical Operations (VCCO) at the Associate Professor/Professor level. The VC will be the designated Departmental leader to oversee operational issues and processes that improve clinical operations and for clinical care quality improvement, patient safety and process improvement. The Search Committee seeks candidates with outstanding experience in clinical management, proven administrative and leadership abilities using data to drive improvement in clinical operations, and a strong commitment to education, research and advocacy. The primary responsibilities include leadership in development, implementation and promotion of Departmental programs designed to deliver patient care that is efficient, safe, personal, coordinated and of the highest quality, The VC will work closely with the VC s of Clinical Finance and Clinical and Strategic Healthcare Transformation to assure alignment between operations, finance and the rapidly changing health care system. The VC will also coordinate activities and collaborate with senior leaders within Colorado Children's Hospital. The VC will collaborate with the Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Child Health, School of Medicine, and counterparts from other Departments/Centers of the School of Medicine, the affiliated hospitals and University Physicians, Inc. to set operational priorities, and develop and implement solutions for improving health care quality, safety, process improvement and value. This may include monitoring and reporting performance in the delivery of patient care using appropriate benchmarks and process improvement analytic tools and collaborating with UPI regarding decision making processes in relationship to billing and clinical services. In addition, the VC will serve as the Department champion for education programs and the scholarly study of quality and safety in health care and for faculty development in relevant scientific disciplines.


Required Qualifications: Board Certification in Pediatrics

outstanding experience in clinical program development, proven administrative and leadership abilities, and a strong commitment to education, research and advocacy.
