The University of Missouri (MU) School of Medicine invites applications and nominations for the position of Director-Center For Biomedical Informatics/ Full professor, tenured or tenure track in the Department of Health Management and Informatics (HMI). The founding Director of the Center for Biomedical Informatics Research will have the opportunity to further refine and shape the center's identity and vision for biomedical informatics as well as enhance its administrative support with new hires and new funds.
The Center for Biomedical Informatics Research will lead the University of Missouri School of Medicine and the University of Missouri Health System in the development and implementation of state-of-the-art biomedical informatics research. The Center's mission is to become the national leader in biomedical informatics research that improves health through enhanced health care, disease prevention and health promotion.
The department includes a health administration program and one of the oldest health informatics programs in the country. As part of a large academic health system, MU offers a rich field of health needs to be tackled by health management and biomedical informatics research. HMI faculty collaborate with not only the School of Medicine and MU Health, but also with the Schools of Engineering, Nursing, Health Professions and Journalism along with University of Missouri Informatics Institute and Office of Social and Economic Data Analysis. Thorough this collaboration HMI faculty has built a robust portfolio of funded research in health informatics, public health and health administration. In addition, HMI has two business units conducting cancer registry and behavioral risk services which also can provide a rich environment for research opportunities.
Ideally, applicants should have a successful track record of research awards, experience with supervision and coordination of academic research work, strong interest in collaborative research and a commitment to providing leadership within a multidisciplinary research and teaching program. The Director/full professor will be responsible for the strategic allocation of substantial resources to build the Center. This is a 12-month, tenure track position in the Department of Health Management and Informatics.
PhD or MD in Health Informatics or a closely related field, recognized by peers as top researcher, demonstrated track record of success in research in Informatics (grant writing and funding), leading and developing others, and management experience.Click to enter qualifications
