The North Texas Eye Research Institute (NTERI) Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Research Assistant to join our team. The Research Assistant assist biological and medical scientists in laboratories; set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, monitor experiments, and record results. May assist in analyzing organic or non-organic substances.Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:Representative Tasks* Assist in the conduct of research, including the collection of information and samples.* Analyze experimental data and interpret results to write reports and summaries of findings.* Keep detailed logs of all work-related activities.* Use computers, computer-interfaced equipment, or high-technology industrial applications to perform work duties.* Clean, maintain and prepare supplies and work areas.* Set up, clean, and maintain, laboratory and field equipment.* Measure or weigh compounds and solutions for use in testing.* Delivers supplies and laboratory specimens to designated work areas.* Maintains inventory reports and logs.Department Specific Responsibilities: * To measure intraocular pressure of mice. * Studying trabecular meshwork cells in glaucoma models.* Performing biochemical and molecular biology experiments, including tissue culture, animal care, animal breeding, dissection and tissue collection, sample preparations, PCR genotyping, SDS-PAGE and western blot.* Perform lab managerial duties including overseeing the laboratory's animal colony, ordering supplies, and maintaining animal protocols and laboratory databases.The University of North Texas System is firmly committed to equal opportunity and does not permit - and takes actions to prevent - discrimination, harassment (including sexual violence), and retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, genetic information, citizenship or veteran status in its application and admission processes, educational programs and activities, facilities, and employment practices.
