Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

Accounting, Bookkeeping and Cash Management
  • Manage LOAs and cash transfers (including bill payments, invoicing, contributions, distributions) for MWYFS, client funds and/or client management companies
  • Manage bookkeeping (including expense categorization and calculation of accruals for GAAP-based entities) for MWYFS and/or client management companies and their various related entities across multiple jurisdictions
  • Classification and tracking of fund expenses vs. management company expenses
  • Support multiple client audits and tax return preparation

Client Fund Operations

  • Review fund documentation and portfolio company transaction documents to interpret and understand terms to ensure proper reporting and analysis
  • Calculate and bill for management fees and performance fees on behalf of clients
  • Manage portfolio rebalancing among certain hedge fund client accounts
  • Review books and NAV packages for hedge fund clients
  • Manage and/or prepare books and financial statements for venture fund clients
  • Assist with portfolio valuations and maintenance of Schedule of Investments
  • Assist in responding to operational due diligence requests and questionnaires
  • Assist in implementation and management of Backstop Solutions database for investor/prospect management and compliance tracking
  • Assist in implementation and management of Nirvana OMS/PMS application

Client Investor Reporting
  • Calculate, manage and track client investor contributions distributions (including capital calls and waterfall calculations)
  • Respond to ad hoc client requests for information and portfolio analyses including attribution analyses, return calculations and IRR analyses
  • Check and/or calculate investor NAVs and capital accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis
  • Assist with investor communications (including capital call and distribution preparation)

Compliance CCO Support
  • Work with CCO and compliance consulting firm (Cordium) to monitor and implement compliance program (including process management, documentation, updating compliance manual, updating DDQs and supporting mock SEC audits)
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of onshore and offshore entities (including registrations, filings, payment of fees, drafting resolutions, etc.)
  • Assist in SEC and other regulatory filings including Forms ADV, 13F, 13G, 13H, D, PF
  • Check daily trade allocations among hedge fund clients

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate comes from a hedge fund, venture capital fund or fund administrator with a comprehensive understanding of day-to- day work flows in back office operations, finance and/or compliance. While not required, experience with both hedge funds and venture capital funds is a plus, as is experience in all three areas of operations, finance and compliance. Where the candidate does not have experience, the candidate must demonstrate an interest and aptitude to become proficient in the remaining areas. Our goal is for the candidate to be an immediate contributor and facilitator as MWYFS grows its client base, while demonstrating the skills, judgment and perspective necessary to earn a leadership role on the executive team.

The candidate is expected to be a highly ethical, highly productive, hands-on individual contributor who can interface with clients and service providers professionally and effectively. Attention to detail and process is a must, and exposure to different forms of legal entities across multiple jurisdictions is helpful. As part of a small office, the candidate must be a team player and willing to perform whatever tasks are necessary for the good of the organization.

Skill sets must be some combination of the following (but not ALL of the boxes need to be checked):

1. 10+ years of work experience, with at least 6 years of Hedge Fund and/or Venture Fund experience in Finance and/or Operations

2. Strong Accounting/Bookkeeping skills (including QuickBooks familiarity or similar) ability to interface effectively with outsourced firms (KPMG, BDO PR, Administrator, Outsourced CFO firm, Prime/Introducing Broker)

3. Strong Excel/Analytical skills

4. Compliance experience, especially with an SEC-registered adviser

5. Adept at learning new software applications (Strong MS Office skills a must; Backstop, Nirvana experience a plus)

6. Strong Communication skills (especially written communication)

a. Comfort with Contracts / Legal Issues, including familiarity with purchase sale agreements, shareholders' agreements, LPAs other fund documents

b. Ability to communicate effectively with very high net worth individuals and decision makers of institutional investors

Must work well in a small office setting, so personality fit and flexibility is also important. Spanish fluency a plus due to the Puerto Rico connection, but not required. Commute to office in Belmont, CA required. Strong references required.

Company Description
MWY Fund Service, LLC ("MWYFS") provides back office services to Acuta Capital Partners,
LLC (cuta"), an SEC-registered investment adviser with over $250 million of AUM. MWYFS
has COO/CCO responsibilities for Acuta, its Puerto Rico ("PR") subadviser and its multiple fund
entities (4 hedge fund vehicles, 1 venture fund vehicle via 2 classes, 1 separately managed
account). MWYFS also effectively performs day-to- day CFO functions for Acuta and its PR
subadviser. This summer, MWYFS expects to take on similar roles for up to 2 additional clients
managing 4 venture capital funds. As a result, MWYFS intends to expand its back office
services team from 4 to 6 people to accommodate the increased responsibilities.
