Job Description Summary

Since effective functioning of the department depends upon "teamwork", tutors are expected to:
- Exhibit a positive acceptance of supervision, direction, and suggestions for improvement
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a member of a team
- Act in such a manner that is supportive of and consistent with College policies and departmental goals, objective and procedures
- Interact with others in a way that is respectful of individual differences
- Assist in orienting new staff members
- Become familiar with departmental "Handbook for Tutors".

Job Responsibilities

A tutor's overall objective is to support the department's goal of providing students with supplemental academic support by:
- Providing one-to-one and small group tutoring
- Developing and implementing non-credit workshops
- Conducting "class visits" and assisting in publicizing services
- Assisting in the maintenance of records
- Completing all necessary paperwork accurately and according to stated deadlines
-Assisting in the development and maintenance of departmental instructional materials.
