Placement Range: $16.50 - $18.50
General Description: This position is responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining HVAC mechanical, electrical, and ventilation systems. Requires technical expertise in several trades for the maintenance, preventive maintenance, repair, and operation of the College facilities. The facilities consist of over 1,000,000 square feet of building space; an Olympic-size aquatic facility (closed); all associated piping, valves, controls, etc.; all associated electrical switch-gear and electrical distribution systems; all associated heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems; and the facility structure and roofing systems.
Minimum Education/Experience: State licensed mechanical journeyman. EPA Refrigerant Certification- Minimum Type II Category (Applicants must attach a copy of the required state license and certificate.)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Technical competency in the operation and maintenance of a variety of HVAC and refrigeration systems, including reciprocal, screw, and centrifugal water chillers, package units, applied air handling units, fan coil units, evaporator coils, compressors, and refrigerant condensers. Understanding of basic systems theory and operation, including electrical, mechanical, construction, and heating/air conditioning/ventilation systems. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows computer operating systems. Basic knowledge of Trane Tracer Summit energy management system (or other comparable systems). Public relations skills to deal with the coordination of efforts between departments and with outside contractors. Ability to read and understand equipment instructions, operating manuals, and repair procedures. Positive communication skills. Access to a residential and/or cellular telephone. Valid driver's license. Ability to work irregular hours, as required.
