The Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Scientist to work in the laboratory of Michael J. Weber, Ph.D. The research will utilize molecular and cellular analysis of dynamic cell signaling mechanisms to overcome intrinsic and adaptive drug resistance in patients with B cell malignancies and other cancers.
The successful candidate must have a PhD in microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, cell biology and/or pharmacology as well as either an MD or DVM and have 2-3 years of post-doctoral work experience in the area of B cell malignancy, targeted therapy, and cell signaling. Hands on experience as well as technical training with cutting edge tools such ImageStream, flow cytometry, and/or CyTOF and a strong knowledge base in B cell biology and molecular biology are required. Candidates must have demonstrated the ability to work independently, be able to supervise and collaborate with other investigators, and also have outstanding communication and writing skills. A strong record of publications and presentations at national and international conferences is also required. This is a 2 year appointment with the possibility of extension.
