Required Qualifications: (As Evidenced by an Attached Resume)

High School Diploma/GED. Two (2) years of full time clerical experience in an office setting. Working knowledge of Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional two (2) years of clerical experience in an office setting. Previous medical office reception experience. Knowledge of Research Foundation of SUNY policies and procedures. Competence with medical terminology. Bilingual in Spanish/English.

Brief Description of Duties:

The incumbent must have knowledge of proper grammatical usage, punctuation and spelling. S/he must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills. S/he must be detail oriented and have a professional and friendly phone manner. S/he will perform the following:

  • Answer phones and take accurate messages.
  • Route calls to appropriate staff.
  • Make reminder calls to patients and schedule appointments for treatment.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and /or direct calls appropriately.
  • Greet and encounter patients.
  • Assist with patient flow, i.e., coordinate with nurses, social workers and doctors.
  • Prepare charts for courier pickup to Commack as necessary.
  • Log and organize incoming charts from other office locations.
  • Assist in scanning of initial patient paperwork into EMR system.
  • Assist with medical records request from patients and other medical providers.
  • Process intake paperwork.
  • Enter data into the WTC database.
  • Distribute mail properly.
  • Assist supervisor with correspondence, purchasing of supplies, mailings, etc. Backup to Commack site.
  • Other duties as assigned.

***Special Notes: This position is located in Mineola. Travel between the Mineola clinic and the Commack clinic may be required. Occasional Saturday's may be required.***FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA
