Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Degree and/or specialized training in technical communication, marketing, public relations, journalism/communications or a related field preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

- A minimum of five years of increasing responsibility in undergraduate admissions and recruitment is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in higher education is preferred.
- Strongly prefer at least five years in publications design, editing, marketing, and social media management.
- Candidate should have proficiency in using Windows or Mac platforms and be familiar with desktop publishing software like PowerPoint, Photoshop, and Microsoft Publisher, etc. A working knowledge of standard camera equipment and video editing software is desired.
- Publications, communications, and/or marketing experience within a university setting is strongly preferred.
- Prefer experience with print and electronic communication campaign development.

License or certificate:

This position involves travel. A valid driver's license is required to operate a state vehicle. The person hired must be able to operate a state vehicle or provide his/her own transportation.

Position Summary:

The Associate Director of Undergraduate Communications and Marketing will serve as the communications and marketing strategist for the Office of Admissions and Recruitment. This individual will develop a high level, multi-year communications and marketing strategy in consultation with the Director of Admissions and Recruitment and admissions senior leadership to attract a high-achieving, diverse applicant pool from Wisconsin and around the world. The individual will plan, organize, and administer all recruitment communication initiatives and campaigns that are consistent with the Division of Enrollment Management and University of Wisconsin-Madison's brand and overall mission.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for an Associate Director of Undergraduate Communications and Marketing in the Office of Admissions and Recruitment. UW-Madison is a major research university, nationally and internationally renowned. The Office of Admissions and Recruitment recruits nationally, handles hundreds of inquiries each day, and receives more than 43,000 undergraduate applications annually. Our application review includes 36,000 freshmen and 7,000 transfer applications. In addition, we evaluate 184,000 transfer credits each year for new and continuing students.

The Associate Director will play a key role in developing and implementing a comprehensive and integrated communications and marketing strategy and manage the social marketing plan that focuses on short-term and long-term strategies. We are seeking a visionary and energetic professional to serve on a progressive Admissions Office team. This dynamic person will be responsible for drafting, designing and coordinating the publication of various Admissions materials using traditional and non-traditional marketing methods. This position reports to the Director of Admissions and Recruitment. The incumbent will join a team that represents the university to prospective freshman and transfer students, with a goal of attracting, recruiting, admitting, and enrolling a talented, geographically diverse student body.

The full-time academic staff position is available immediately with a desired begin date of April 1, 2017. A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered, with title and salary dependent on qualifications. The minimum starting salary is negotiable.
