Summary of Job Duties

University of Arkansas Facilities Management is now accepting applications for a position within Planning and Design, the division which directs physical planning in support of the university's academic mission. Planning and Design leads a broad range of planning efforts, including land use and master planning, space use analysis, transportation and infrastructure planning, etc. and sets design standards for all campus buildings and landscapes. In addition, the group guides capital projects from project initiation through all phases of design.

The Campus Planner will support the operation of the office in a wide range of tasks. This includes involvement in the oversight of major and minor design projects, administering and explaining campus standards, managing implementation of campus wide projects such as the signage and wayfinding system, meeting with various campus departments to evaluate program needs, communicating with project stakeholders through graphic representations, creating architectural visualizations, scheduling project meetings, updating the Planning and Design website, etc.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, LA ID, Urban Planning, or closely related field
  • At least two years experience in Campus Planning

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least four years in Campus Planning in higher education
  • At least two years supervisor experience
  • Proficient in AutoDesk AutoCad, 3DS Max, Revit; Adobe Creative Suite; Microsoft Office; web content management systems
  • Experience with ArcGIS
  • Professional experience in a design studio environment, producing high quality accurate & persuasive 3D models and digital renderings
  • Professional Registration

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and maintain positive relationships with all major constituencies
  • Ability to work collaboratively with university administrators, students, faculty, staff, and community members
  • Ability to work independently, schedule work out over several months, and report on progress
