Responsibilities

Media Technician is responsible for the operation and equipment maintenance of film and video projectors for the Askew Student Life Center (ASLC). This includes training and managing evening OPS student staff projectionists and advising the Program Manager with upgrade recommendations. They also supervise student staff and daily operations for Concessions and Coffee Shop.
Media Maintenance - Responsible for daily film projection, audio systems & equipment maintenance in the Student Life Cinema movie theater at the Askew Student Life Center. Responsible for verification of delivery, examination, and preparation of 35mm film prints, Digital Cinema Packages, blu rays, and/or other formats and ensures prompt returns. Maintains accurate logs of bulb hours and notifies supervisors when parts or service are required. Maintains inventory of working microphones, audio boards, cables, projectors, bulbs, and other AV equipment. Researches & recommends AV equipment upgrades.
Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of theater projection technology. Coordinates projection format and quality of on-screen ASLC event videos and trailers. Concessions and Coffee Staff & Inventory - Responsible for supervising and training Concessions and Coffee Shop staff, making the OPS work schedule, overseeing inventory, completing concessions cost analysis, providing on-call emergency evening staff support, verifying vendor deliveries, and coordinating repairs.
Set-Up - Assists with Info Desk staff AV training for meeting rooms, projection and theater management coverage when needed. Completes theater setup for special events requiring stages, risers, additional microphones.
Writes and updates projection training manuals and schematics. Trains staff in the operation and routing of all AV equipment of the ASLC. Supervises OPS AV assistants.
Assists Program Manager with analyzing attendance data and maintains historical attendance records, Orders and catalogs theatrical promotional materials (i.e. posters, film trailers, standees, postcards), and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma/equivalency and two years of experience related to the duties of this position. (Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to two years.)
Ability to perform accurately in a detail environment.
Experience with the collection of payments in the form of cash, checks, and credit cards.
Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as required to support events.
Ability to efficiently convey technical information to technical and non-technical users.
Must follow written and oral instructions.
Must utilize problem solving skills.
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.
Must maintain and improve personal and team effectiveness, and be able to foster change and creativity.
