Administrative Support II - Multicultural Outreach Hispan Aid Part-Time (Variable Hour)

Position Category: Staff - Part-Time (Variable Hour)

Come join our Multicultural Outreach team as an Administrative Support at Utah Valley University! In this role you will perform moderately complex and confidential administrative support duties which require a range of skills and knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; composes, edits, and proofreads correspondence and reports, and prepares a range of administrative documents. Under the general direction of the Latino Initiative Program Director, works with students, parents, counselors, teachers, administrators, and community organizations in the Utah and Salt Lake County areas to increase access to UVU for Latino students; develops and coordinates parent open houses in both English and Spanish; promotes degree completion for Latino students at UVU.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree and one year of experience or any combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling three years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of UVU admissions and general policies.
  • Knowledge working with the Latino community in the Utah & Salt Lake County areas.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge in coordinating and presenting in both English and Spanish at Latino Initiative and school events.
  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Skills in Public Speaking.
  • Skills in office methods and techniques.
  • Skills in developing presentations and informing those in financial need.
  • Skills in interpersonal communication.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in both English and Spanish.
  • Ability to speak English and Spanish fluently.
  • Ability to deal effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work with students, parents, counselors, teachers, administrators, and community organizations at assigned schools and locations in the Utah & Salt Lake County areas.

Preferred Qualifications:
15-28 hours a week.
Schedule varies based on scheduled open houses, school visits, or community organization visits.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.

Benefits Summary:
You may be eligible for a 3 credit hour or 1 class tuition waiver after 6 consecutive months of employment and a minimum of 475 hours worked. Dependents do not qualify for a waiver.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $10.54 - $15.81 per hour
