Communication Specialist- University College (Part Time - Variable Hours)

Position Category: Staff - Part-Time (Variable Hour)

Coordinates the effective promotion of University College services, departments, and events. Manages and directs the development, planning, and creation of content for both print publications and web mediums for University College and all departments/divisions therein. Assists departments to disseminate information regarding all the activities and services both internally and externally. Oversees written communication from University College as well as its departments and divisions: advertisements, brochures, newsletters, posters, and press releases, coordinating all efforts with University Marketing regarding external communications.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree and two years of related experience or any combination of education and experience totaling four years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Design, Photoshop, & Illustrator.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of public relations, media relations, communications and rapport-building techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Omni-Update and basic understanding of HTML
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Communicates clearly and concisely in writing and orally.
  • Effectively demonstrates interpersonal, problem-solving, decision-making and public relations skills.
  • Works independently on a multi-task level, to prioritize, and to follow projects through to completion.
  • Works effectively with diverse personalities and in a high-stress environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and produce brochures, posters, flyers and other publications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse personalities in a high-stress environment.
  • Demonstrated history of the ability to meet tight deadlines and the completion of last minute projects.

Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree and one years’ experience in Marketing or Design experience, or any combination of education/experience related to the summary of duties totaling five years

You may be eligible for a 3 credit hour or 1 class tuition waiver after 6 consecutive months of employment and a minimum of 475 hours worked. Dependents do not qualify for a waiver.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $18.79 - $30.49 hourly
