New York City College of Technology (NYCCT) of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college of over 17,000 students of diverse backgrounds in downtown Brooklyn, offering associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Business and Technology of Fashion at the Assistant Professor rank, to begin during the 2017-2018 academic year.

The Department of Business has 12 full time faculty members with extensive experience in the private sector as well as academic credentials. Close to one thousand students are enrolled in the Department of Business, which offers a baccalaureate degree in the Business and Technology of Fashion and three associate-level programs: Accounting, the Business and Technology of Fashion, and Marketing Management and Sales. Additional bachelor's-level programs are being developed.

The candidate hired will teach undergraduate-level courses primarily in fashion marketing, textiles, and other fashion-related areas. However, the teaching load may include courses in basic marketing, business management, market research, advertising techniques, e-commerce, and web/social media-based promotion. Ideally, the successful candidate will be able to leverage industry experience to foster student internships and relationships with potential employers. Additionally, if hired, the applicant will assist in recruiting efforts from high schools and other institutions. Knowledge of international business issues and marketing, particularly supply-chain management and logistics, is a plus. Preference will be given to candidates who have a strong background in e-commerce, ERP, big data, analytics, and other cutting-edge tools.

The position requires a commitment to teaching, scholarly research resulting in publication and presentation, sustained service to the department and college, and academic advisement. The candidate hired will be expected to work closely with the program director and to participate effectively in Department/College/University-wide initiatives. Extensive collaboration with college colleagues and active involvement with college initiatives including course and program assessment, curriculum development, and general education, is also expected.

Required: By the date of appointment, Ph.D. or equivalent in hand in fashion marketing or another fashion/textiles related field. The candidate's profile must include evidence of writing ability, teaching, scholarly work, and professional/industry experience. Strong academic and professional references are necessary. Effective communicative skills are essential. Published work and a commitment to quality research are required.
