Occupational Summary
Develop and implement marketing plans and communications for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Work Performed
  • Manage and maintain the departmental website.
  • Write and distribute regularly scheduled newsletters to communicate academic and clinical news.
  • Develop and manage social media strategy for the department and clinical entity.
  • Develop and manage marketing budget for the department.
  • Work with School of Medicine, Duke Health, Private Diagnostic Clinic communications and marketing teams to coordinate academic and clinical outreach efforts.
  • Develop, direct and oversee marketing and communications activities such as campaigns for new physicians and faculty members, clinical patient care and services, new locations, education and research to appropriate audiences and special programs.
  • Direct the creativity and productions of audio, video and written communication to promote the services of the academic and clinical entity.
  • Hire and oversee outside consultants as necessary, which may include writers, graphic designers, ad agencies and web vendors.
  • Coordinate and manage special events and other activities as requested.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training:
Work requires communication, analytical and organizational skills acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Experience: Work requires a minimum of four years of experience in publications, public relations, marketing, social media or a related field in order to direct and coordinate a comprehensive marketing and communications program.

Skills:
  • Experience working with outside agencies such as website developers, ad agencies, graphic designers and writers.
  • Experience with website content management systems (CMS), Drupal experience a plus.
  • Experience with social media strategy development, audience building and analytics.
  • Experience with email deployment systems, such as Contact or Mail Chimp.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally among diverse entities.
