Position Description

Lynch Consultants' dynamic Federal Practice based in Washington D.C. has opportunities for you to become part of a high-quality team that delivers innovative solutions to key Federal clients in audit and accounting, financial management, risk & compliance, controls analysis & remediation, and financial statement reporting services. Serve in a client-facing role by supporting defined work streams involving technical accounting and reporting, remediation of audit findings, and compliance services. Collaborate with federal clients to develop and implement strategies addressing compliance with existing and emerging requirements. Activities include:
  • Performing analysis of business processes and internal controls to identify risks
  • Providing suggestions to management and external clients to improve client internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial statements.
  • Preparing audit reports for clients to convey audit findings and recommendations
  • Testing controls related to OMB Circular A-123
  • Maintaining relationships and communicate with key client personnel to understand business operations, processes, and functions
  • Researching new accounting pronouncements and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency
  • Preparing presentations and briefings, actively participate in client meetings and day-to-day interactions

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management
  • Four years of experience supporting or working in a Federal Government CFO Act Agency performing audit, accounting, or audit remediation functions
  • Knowledge and experience auditing, reviewing, or working with Federal business processes such as funds management, budget execution, receivables management, disbursements, financial reporting, and grants management
  • Strong report writing skills to communicate findings and recommendations to clients
  • Knowledge of working paper documentation standards
  • Outstanding written, communication and presentation skills
  • Experience working in Federal audit environment required

Additional desired experience :
  • MBA or similar degree
  • Certification in at least one of the following strongly desired: CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CGFM (Certified Government Financial Manager), or CGAP (Certified Government Auditing Professional)
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience as an accountant or auditor for a Big 4 accounting firm, mid-size IPA, OIG, GAO, or other Federal OCFO
  • Prior experience working with client and IPA auditors to resolve potential non-compliance issues
  • Prior experience preparing financial statements in accordance with OMB Circular A-136 and/or performing financial statement audits
  • Prior experience remediating audit findings and implementing process improvements in a Federal CFO environment
  • Understanding of Treasury reporting, GAAP, FASAB, FAM, and USSGL
  • Knowledge of OMB Circulars and Bulletins including A-123
