General Summary: The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Administrative Assistant to Associate Provost for Research & Engagement. This position is responsible for supporting the Associate Provost for Research & Engagement who serves as the Chief Research Officer for UNG. Responsibilities include managing AP's calendar, taking calls, making travel and meeting arrangements, purchasing supplies, assisting the business manager, preparing reports, and customer service. Requires a strong degree of independence, flexibility, interpersonal skills, project coordination skills, and the ability to work well with all levels of external constituents (including local politicians and international figures) as well as internal personnel and students.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: The Administrative Assistant will:
  • Serve as primary contact for students, staff, faculty, and visitors to handle needs, requests, and complaints. Maintains a professional and pleasant atmosphere for visiting officials, personnel and students.
  • Participate in the management of operating and special budgets for the Office of Research and Engagement by supporting the business manager as requested.
  • Purchase supplies and equipment. Reconcile purchasing card transactions.
  • Record management for research, grants, and engagement.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and completes travel expense reimbursement requests for AP.
  • Schedule appointments and meetings for the AP and serves as liaison for the AP.
  • Organize programs, events, meeting or conferences by arranging facilities and caterers, issuing information or invitations, and maintaining event budget.
  • Provide support, as requested for other areas within the Office of Research, Economic Development and Community Engagement.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Banner and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to greet and interact positively with all “customers”.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals at different levels within the institution, ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to maintain a variety of records and prepare reports


Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree
  • Three (3) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
