Posting Summary:
The Department of Middle Eastern and South Asian Languages and Cultures (MESALC) at the University of Virginia invites applications for a full-time position in Hindi language instruction, either at the rank of Assistant Professor - General Faculty, or Lecturer. The position will begin in the fall 2017 with an anticipated start date of July 25, 2017, and will continue for three years. This position is eligible for renewal contingent upon a highly successful performance review. The teaching load is three courses per semester.

Candidates who hold a Ph.D. in a South Asia-related field or in Language Pedagogy and who possess native or near proficiency in Hindi, and a minimum of two years' experience in producing proficiency-and authentic materials- based curricula at the university level will be considered for the rank of Assistant Professor-General Faculty.

Candidates who hold a M.A in a South Asia-related field or in Language Pedagogy and who possess native or near proficiency in Hindi, and a minimum of two years' experience in producing proficiency-and authentic materials- based curricula at the university level will be considered for the rank of Lecturer.

Working knowledge of Urdu script is highly desirable.
