Serves as crew for performance space within the Carlsen Center and any other venue used for a performance.
PROVIDE MANUAL LABOR for the set-up and tear down of a show or event, in one or more of the following departments:
Electrics: Set up/operate lighting instruments, spotlights, anything needing to be powered on the set.
Sound: A branch of the electrics department deals specifically with the set-up/operation of microphones, speakers and all other sound equipment.
Carpentry: Set-up staging, trusses, scenery, backdrops. The carpenter is in charge of a fly system, if used. During the show, the carpenter is responsible for any changing of scenery.
Properties: This crew is responsible for set decorations and any hand-held items used by the actors during the show.
Wardrobe: Work with costumes. Prepare them for use (hang up on racks, ironing, mending) and assist the performers to change costumes during the show.
Video: Set up video walls/screens and projectors.
Backline: Assist with musical instruments.
Pusher: Pushes cases to and from loading dock to floor.
Loader: Unloading/loading of all crates from trucks or buses.
Maintenance of stages and equipment during times when productions are not taking place.
High School graduate or equivalent required.
Good communication and organizational skills. Ability to lift 60+ pounds. Valid KS or MO driver's license. Willing to work flexible schedule, including days, evenings and weekends as required. Polite and professional demeanor at all times. Capable of following instructions and working well with others. Tolerant of outdoor work in heat or cold, when needed.
PREFERRED Positive attitude and constructive communication. Basic knowledge of troubleshooting with stage equipment. Ability to identify a C wrench from 100 feet away a plus. Experience in computer light and sound boards.
