The College of Science Student Advising Office at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire an Academic Advisor I to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:This position will perform advising work regarding degree requirements and academic policies, and prepare and update degree audits for the Math and Science Advising Team. Additional responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: * Advise students/prospective students in multiple settings regarding degree requirements, university policies, and procedures. * Familiarize students with general requirements for particular majors and degree progression. * Evaluate transfer course application toward University Core and COS Requirements. * Process VA, ROTC, Financial Aid and other exceptional degree audits. * Prepare graduation checks for graduating seniors. * Review four year plans, U.Achieve and catalog copy as specified for accuracy. * Assist in creating and updating major/degree articulation guides for area community colleges. * Assist with advising for Transfer and Freshman Orientations. * Correspond with students concerning questions about degree requirements, transfer hours, etc. via email, phone, or mail. * Give presentations relating to UNT academic policies and major-specific information at functions such as Preview Day. Bachelor's Degree and one year of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, or academic advising.* Strong presentation skills.* Strong problem solving skills.* Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing.* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.* Ability to work independently.
