JOB DESCRIPTION

Counseling for diverse student population in all academic and vocational area, participation in the matriculation process; teaching in the area of career planning and/or orientation; developing educational plans; program planning, career planning; counseling students on probation/dismissal status; participation in high school outreach activities; recruitment of vocational and/or educationally disadvantaged students.

Faculty job responsibilities include the development/review of curriculum and assessment of learning outcomes to improve teaching and learning in achieving El Camino College’s mission of institutional effectiveness, quality educational programs, and vibrant student support services.    

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, counseling psychology, clinical psychology; guidance counseling, education counseling, social work, career development; OR

The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualification(s) as stated on this announcement must complete the Request For Equivalency Form as part of the application process to explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR

Valid California community college instructor credential in appropriate subject issued prior to July 1, 1990 (per California Education Code 87355); AND 

Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students and of individuals with disabilities.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with first-generation students, students in basic skills courses, Veterans and with students who have English as their second language in a community college setting

Availability between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. 

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Part-time, hourly, on-call positions, on as-needed basis and according to assigned program qualification requirements, for the 2017 fall semester, beginning August 27, 2017. Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), transcripts, fingerprint results, and tuberculosis examination as required. Candidates selected for employment will be required to provide verification of work authorization in the form of a passport, valid driver's license, or other equivalent identification, and social security card. 

 

SALARY 

The beginning rate is $48.80 - $58.78 per hour depending on education and experience.
