Nature of Work
This position will oversee the daily payroll operations for the University of West Georgia to include processing of bi-weekly and monthly payrolls, process development, reconciliation of accounts and associated journal entries, data analysis, multi-state tax management, and supervision of staff. This position will ensure compliance with Federal and State laws, Board of Regents, and University policies.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field ANDat least five years of payroll or accounting experience which includes two years in a supervisory capacity. Ability to meet frequent demanding deadlines and manage multiple simultaneous tasks. Customer service oriented and attention to detail is a must. Proficiency in Excel required. Knowledge and skills to work with benefits administration. Experience in analysis and improvement of policies and procedures.
*Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or related field.
*CPP or FPC Certification.
*Experience working in a higher education environment.
*Experience with the PeopleSoft payroll system.
*Proven ability meeting and dealing with the public.
*Experience with payroll system implementations.
$48,191 minimum - $65,668 midpoint
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Must be able to sit for long periods of time, occasionally lift up to 40 pounds, work on a computer for long periods of time.
