Position Description:

Calumet College of St. Joseph is a vibrant, multicultural urban university with a strong social justice mission. We are a small, mission driven, 4-year Catholic college in Northwest Indiana, just 20 minutes away from downtown Chicago. We are very fortunate to have an amazing group of faculty and staff who are committed to our students’ success. The Public Safety program was recently revised and we are excited to teach our new curriculum beginning in the fall, focusing on the needs of people who work in the field. New classes include Dynamic Dimensions of Wellness and Multicultural and Diverse Populations. We are seeking a dynamic, innovative, and enthusiastic individual to join the Public Safety team. This is a full time, tenure-track, assistant professor, faculty position to teach undergraduate and graduate public safety courses at our main campus in Indiana, as well as at our satellite locations in Indiana and Illinois.


To qualify for this position, candidates must have a Doctorate (or ABD completed by August 2017) with 18 graduate credit hours in the content area. Candidates should have a background in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Education, Organizational Leadership, or Sociology.  Teaching experience strongly preferred. Candidate must have knowledge of competency-based curriculum; excellent written and oral communication skills; experience with Blackboard learning management system a plus; technological proficiency with digital learning tools and competent computer skills are required; and experience with diverse populations desired.


The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate public safety courses and complete additional organizational, programmatic, and administrative duties as determined by the department chair.

Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Start date:       Fall 2017
