Communications and Special Projects Officer, Government Affairs, #603222

Northern Arizona University’s Department of Government Affairs is seeking applications for a Communications and Special Projects Officer. Qualified candidate will be under administrative direction, prepares communications and presentations, through analysis, planning, creation and implementation of materials that update and inform constituencies of NAU partnership efforts, maintaining a strong positive image within strategic branding and identity standards.  These messages should be current representations of dynamic projects and initiatives as well as NAU’s impact. Along with being in partnership with the Vice President of External Affairs, the Chief Marketing Officer and the Associate Vice President of Education Partnerships, develops a strategic outreach strategy to communicate key messages with NAU’s external partners. Develops electronic and hard copy articles for newsletters and outreach materials, including but not limited to:  regular communications with education, government and business partners, special newsletter articles with designated focus areas, presentation materials for external partner meetings and conferences. Develops and maintains content for the External Affairs website, insuring timely posting of news and events. Special projects as assigned which may include event preparation and organization, speech writing and university representation with external audiences.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field and five years of Communications, Marketing or Public Relations; or seven years of communication, Marketing or Public Relations experience, or any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Annual Salary: Commensurate with experience.
