Position Summary

The Department of Computational Mathematics, Science and Engineering (CMSE) and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Michigan State University invite applications for a fixed term faculty at the rank of full Professor in the broad areas pertaining to accelerator technology and plasma physics. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Physics or Electrical Engineering or Nuclear Engineering or a related field, with expertise in, but not limited to technologies related to design of compact accelerators and components, viz, charged particle beam optics including space charge, ion sources, design and analysis of cavities and structures, electron cloud and plasma effects, and high voltage engineering. Areas of interest also include accelerator technology advancement as applied to imaging, medicine and diagnostics.  A strong candidate for this position will have a deep breadth of knowledge in both the modeling and computational tools that are used in accelerator design, as well as a background in development of these tools/models.   Knowledge of the use of, and a background in development on, high performance computing platforms in this area is a plus.

Minimum Requirements
