The Department of Computer Science in the School of Engineering at Tufts University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position to begin as soon as possible in AY 2017-18 (either Fall 2017 or Spring 2018).
Candidates may have expertise in any area of computer science or a closely related field including but not limited to Algorithms, Complexity, AI, Analytics, Machine Learning, Databases, Distributed Systems, Computational Biology, Hardware-Software Interfaces, Human-Computer Interaction, Robotics, Mobile Development, Natural Language Processing, Power Management, Security, Software Development, Visualization, and Web Infrastructure and Design.
This is a full-time non-tenure-track position. The initial appointment term will be for two years with the possibility of renewal contingent on annual performance review results.
Tufts' School of Engineering distinguishes itself by the interdisciplinary focus and integrative nature of its engineering education within the intellectually rich environment of a research university. Located only six miles from historic downtown Boston, faculty members on the Tufts Medford/Somerville campus have extensive opportunities for academic and industrial collaboration as well as participation in the rich intellectual life of the area. The Department of Computer Science has grown significantly in the past decade in number of faculty and students, graduating over 125 majors annually. Located in the Boston area, the department benefits from outstanding undergraduate and graduate students, collaborative faculty, and cross-disciplinary research opportunities. The ideal Lecturer candidate will possess prior teaching experience, especially with undergraduate students, and have an engaging teaching style. The candidate must have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring.
A doctoral degree is preferred but not required.
