General Summary of Position:
The Executive Director will report to the Vice Chancellor for Advancement and will provide both managerial and practical support for the Advancement Communications department. The Executive Director will directly manage the Advancement Communications team and the overall strategy of the department, while providing hands-on support for our communications needs. This person will also serve as the primary liaison between Advancement and University Relations, and will work closely with the Chancellor's Office on communications issues. This person will be a member of the Advancement Senior Leadership Team. The Executive Director of Advancement Communications will oversee the content for the advancement website as well as initiate and support communication strategies that include social media outreach, e-marketing, news production, and other forms of electronic and print marketing.

-Manage the Advancement Communications team to deliver effective messaging that supports constituent engagement and provide strategic communications and marketing support to all functions within the Division of University Advancement. Take a lead role in the innovation of new communication projects.
-Provide practical communications support as a writer and editor, including the drafting of key speeches, presentations, reports, articles, and letters. Devise a comprehensive social media outreach and interaction strategy including the use of multiple platforms.
-Serve as primary liaison to the Chancellor's Office and Office of University Relations to effectively manage communications activities between the offices.
-Other duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
-Bachelor's degree required, Masters preferred
-Minimum of 8-10 years relevant experience with a proven track record in communications and top-notch organizational skills is a must
-Prior educational communications experience and strong knowledge of advancement functions will lead to success
-Knowledge of social media and digital communications and marketing is a must
-The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
-Demonstrated ability for writing for the fundraising, web, proofreading and editing skills, and design sensibility
-Experience with managing social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram)
-Knowledge of website design practices and trends in marketing, including social networking strategies
-Experience with e-marketing communications

Other Considerations:
-Experience in higher education and working in complex organizations is preferred
