I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

The Manager, SON Clinical Placement works with the faculty, students and staff to manage the clinical placement process. This includes the identification, establishment and maintenance of clinical sites, communicating with students about clinical sites, evaluating the clinical placement process and supervising the clinical coordination staff members.
Job duties include:
• Facilitates and assists with the identification, establishment and maintenance of clinical sites for all programs with a clinical or practicum requirement. Assists students in identifying appropriate sites in conjunction with program directors. Assists clinical program coordinators with clinical affiliation agreements. Communicates with students about the status of clinical sites or when problems with affiliation agreements occur.
• Works with program directors, program staff, and clinical placement staff to ensure the clinical placement process meets the clinical objectives of all nursing programs requiring a clinical or practical experience.
• Cultivates and sustains relationships with preceptors and clinical sites both locally and nationally.
• Oversees and manages the data integrity of the database for all clinical sites, agreements, and preceptors for all nursing programs.
• Responsible for orienting students, faculty, and new staff to the clinical placement process through orientation sessions and other educational workshops.
• Provides strategic leadership for the clinical placement team to ensure all processes are in alignment with curriculum and accreditation standards.
• Oversees the utilization of the clinical management system to manage and evaluate all aspects of the clinical placement process. Maintains accurate records related to clinical sites and placements.
• Oversees the clinical affiliation agreement process through collaboration with staff, the office of general counsel, and risk management to ensure all agreements meet the school's standards.
• Works with clinical placement team to enhance the structures and processes to manage the clinical placement process at the graduate and undergraduate level.
• Ensures all students participating in clinical and practicum sites with state authorization regulations meet compliance.
• Collaborates with the academic affairs staff to monitor student progression toward clinical for future planning.
• Provides reports to senior associate dean of academic affairs, assistant deans and program directors on clinical placement status and issues as needed.
• Serves as the content expert for the clinical placement system to ensure faculty, staff, and preceptors have the ability to use the tool. Develops training for faculty, staff, students, and preceptors related to the clinical placement system.
• Works with clinical placement team to ensure all clinical policies are up-to-date and accessible to key stakeholders.
• Develops tools and resources to enhance the clinical placement process, such as operating procedures, handbooks, and training materials.
• Supervises, evaluates and trains clinical coordinator staff. Monitors staff time reporting requirements and administers leave, including approving employee leave requests, consistently applying University leave conventions, and establishing and maintaining accurate leave records. Responsible for staff recruitment activities.
• Represent School of Nursing at consortium meetings and affiliate events.
• Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 6 years of relevant professional experience. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in nursing, healthcare and/or higher education preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Strong interpersonal skills in order to work with faculty, staff and students.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and prioritization skills. Project management experience preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Access. Should be proficient in the use of databases.
