Job description

Duties: This position will be responsible for mouse work, which includes animal husbandry, breeding, genotyping, tail vein injections, oral gavage, retro-orbital bleeding, preparation of and administration of specialized feeding diet; minor surgery involving implantation of devices, and in-vivo physiology assessments including glucose tolerance testing and insulin tolerance testing; tissue processing and biochemical assays which include dissection of tissues and collection of serum for use in biochemical assays and histology; in-vitro work which includes maintenance and treatment of cell lines doe mRNA analysis, immunoblotting, lipid analysis and immunofluorescent staining; molecular biology which includes genetic mouse modeling, PCR, qPCR, and siRNA; data analysis including use of graph pad and excel; human tissue processing for histology and immunostaining; and clinical data extraction. This position will also be responsible for general lab maintenance including ordering, organizing and cataloging supplies, as well as administrative assistance for lab personnel. There is opportunity for project design.

Position is contingent on continued funding.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 0-1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 1-2 years of experience preferred. This position requires some weekend availability. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly self-motivated individual with strong communication and computer skills, attention to detail, and ability to work well in a team.
