Duties: The Department Graduate Coordinator is responsible for coordinating 100+ graduate students in SAS's Departments of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations and East Asian Language and Civilizations through the graduate program and all its intricate processes. The coordinator handles the general office administration for the department and serves as the primary contact for graduate students, as well as providing administrative support to the Graduate Chairs of two departments.
Qualifications: A high school diploma and 5-7 years of experience is required or equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred. Experience providing administrative support in an academic environment required. Ideal candidate must possess strong organizational skills, strong written and oral communications skills, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Must have a professional demeanor with the ability to provide excellent customer service to a diverse audience. Must be a team player and have excellent collaboration skills.
Ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of scholarly resources across the University that are available for both students and department faculty. Financial experience, event planning experience, and an understanding of academic and curriculum planning are preferred. Familiarity with Penn's financial application strongly encouraged. Experience with University graduate programs and policies strongly encouraged.'
