Job description

Duties: A position is currently available for a highly motivated individual as a part time research specialist within the Kambayashi Laboratory in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, which studies the role of how topical Vitamin D3 treatment affects the outcome of atherosclerosis. The position will involve techniques including, but not limited to, independently performing experiments using a mouse model of atherosclerosis and the collection of data from these experiments. The analysis will involve histology, flow cytometry, and ELISA among others. The individual is expected to have expertise in this mouse model and the analytical tools necessary for the collection of data. The individual will be the lead member of the laboratory and is expected to provide intellectual input in lab meetings, discussions, and participate in experiments with other members of the lab. The position will supervise junior lab members. The applicant must be well organized and will maintain his/her own lab notebook. The applicant is expected to be writing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. The individual will also contribute to grant proposals. The individual is also expected to collaborate with people outside the lab, and attending/presenting at regional and/or national meetings.

Position is contingent on continued funding.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
