PROGRAM COORD. POSTDOCTORAL DIVERSITY INITIATIVES
Duties: Reporting to the Principal Investigator of the PennPORT postdoctoral program, the Program Coordinator will coordinate all aspects of the PennPORT postdoctoral program, including supporting postdoc training, grant administration, and teaching activities at the three partner institutions (Lincoln University, Delaware County Community College, and Rutgers University, Camden Campus). 75 percent of this position is as a program assistant to an NIH-funded IRACDA program, PENN-PORT, which offers biomedical postdocs an opportunity to develop teaching skills at partner minority serving institutions in addition to biomedical research training under the direction of a PENN faculty member in the Schools of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Dental Medicine, Wistar Institute, or the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. In addition to these activities, the coordinator will report to the Assistant Dean for Research Training Programs, coordinating efforts to recruit, retain and promote trainees from underrepresented groups for the Office of Biomedical Postdoctoral Programs (BPP).
Qualifications: We are looking for a dynamic individual to coordinate programs to advance diversity in our educational enterprise. A Bachelor's degree (Master's Degree preferred) and 3-5 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. A background in a science or education related discipline preferred. The ideal candidate will have a strong service-orientation supported by excellent interpersonal skills, facile multitasking capabilities, data management abilities, strong computer skills, experience with social media and strong presentation, writing, and editing skills. The individual in this position needs to be comfortable with advising/mentoring trainees and faculty as well as planning, organizing, and managing multiple projects simultaneously within determined deadlines. Close attention to detail and procedures related to expense and budget reports is a required. Experience with academic program development and management are preferred. Some evening and weekend work will be required. Candidates should be willing and able to travel as needed.
