About The Unit:

Unit Job Summary: Payroll Supervisor: Acting as the Supervisor for Independent Contractor Payments, oversees the processing of all non-salary payments to individuals. Determines and applies federal and state taxation requirements for each of the payment categories. For requirements and coordinates the preparation and mailing calendar year-end processing, determines reporting of IRS Forms 1099 and 1042S. Works with departments throughout the year to resolve problems with any of the above categories of payment and conducts user training seminars.

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree OR a minimum of three years of work experience in a financial-related role required

Unit Experience: A minimum of three years of payroll related experience is required Knowledge of relevant payroll and income tax laws and regulations required; experience with a computerized payroll and/or accounts payable system required; knowledge of accounting principles and practices required; working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required; good written and verbal communication skills are required; familiarity with University policies, procedures, and regulations preferred. Supervisory experience is required.

Unit Job Function Competencies: Knowledge of relevant payroll and income tax laws and regulations required. Proficiency with spreadsheet, word processing, and payroll software systems required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to supervise the day to day activities of staff members required.
