Accounting Technician II

Accounting Technician II/H8B2XX
FLSA Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
Starting Salary: $1518.50/month
In an effort to deliver accurate and timely finance and accounting services within the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences, the candidate will perform assigned accounting and related clerical support functions including data entry; record retention; journal entries; creating invoices; processing and tracking deposits; and processing purchase requisitions. Assist with researching, tracking, and resolving accounting, budget and supplier related issues. Establish and sustain effective communication and coordination between Finance and Budget offices; College faculty and staff; and Dean's Office.
Specific duties include:
- Maintain accounting records and files.
- Establish and maintain financial information database, processes and procedures, and internal controls.
- Ensures financial integrity by tracking and keeping history of financial information.
- Prepares various types of financial reports including monthly, quarterly, and annually.
- Books travel, accommodations and makes reservations for non-employee faculty and staff candidates.
- Other administrative and accounting duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years technical accounting experience.
Substitutions: Two years of bookkeeping or technical accounting experience other than that listed may substitute for the required experience.
Two years of college, university or non-correspondence business school which
included eighteen (18) semester credit hours of accounting or bookkeeping can
substitute for the required experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associates or Bachelor's degree and one year of accounting experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Experience with automated accounting systems and general office equipment
• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and web-based applications
• PeopleSoft Financial Management System (FMS) and Human Capital Management (HCM) knowledge a plus
• Knowledge of general accounting policies and procedures
• Analyzing and interpreting fiscal and accounting reports
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and management
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
