Bachelor's Degree. One (1) year of full time laboratory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

BS in Biology or Molecular Biology. Additional years of laboratory experience. Experience with animal husbandry, PCR genotyping and knowledge of basic mouse genetics. Working laboratory experience in histology and molecular biology techniques. Experience with mouse survival surgeries and research in the prostate field would be advantageous.

Brief Description of Duties:

The Research Support Specialist will be responsible for laboratory work to join the group of Dr. Flaminia Talos in the Department of Pathology and Urology at Stony Brook University. Dr. Talos' group applies lineage tracing with multi-color reporters in mouse models of prostate cancer to mechanistically understand clonal evolution in tumors. The successful incumbent should have strong communication, organization and record keeping skills.

  • Manage a multi-line mouse colony (includes breeding, culling and genotyping animals and maintaining a database).
  • Histology and immunohistochemistry preparations.
  • Prepare general reagents for the lab.
  • Technical support for the other lab members, including assistance in mouse survival surgeries and mouse dissections.
  • Order supplies for the lab.
  • Other duties as assigned.
