Required Qualifications (as evidenced by attached resume):

Bachelor’s degree or higher. Three years of experience in networking and systems administration. Experience utilizing VMware, Active Directory and Windows Patching.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology or related field. Additional years (4+) of experience in networking/systems administration. Experience in Information Security and/or Information Security Certification. Experience in Microsoft Office 365 Administration and Azure.

Brief Description of Duties:

The incumbent will be responsible for a broad range of information security work, including intrusion detection management, e-preservation, malware and virus detection and prevention support. The incumbent will assist both east and west Campus in the development of security policies and procedures, training and implementation of information security policies and procedures and monitoring compliance with the policies and procedures for Stony Brook Student Health Service (SHS), Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Center for Prevention and Outreach (CPO), Disability Support Services and the Health Science Schools. The incumbent will facilitate and conduct security risk assessments and audits for both east and west campus. The incumbent will refer breaches of confidentiality and/or security and complaint investigations to the appropriate individuals and participate in and at times lead information security reviews of software applications. The Incumbent is responsible for monitoring systems and network for intrusions and is responsible for being up to date on malware, virus, phishing, ransomware and other security threats.

The incumbent will also be responsible for privacy and security related activities for the RHIO, DSRIP, SBM HIE, and SBM clinical areas as necessary.

In addition, the incumbent will evaluate and make recommendations of specialized system software by taking into account cost/benefit analysis and analyzing the specifications of the systems involved for both east and west campus. Facilitate and perform analysis of actual vs. estimated technology costs. They will also assess the impact of future programs, and determine what applications fit best with the needs of the departments, Stony Brook Medicine and the University as a whole. Provide detailed review of potential vendor and internally developed solutions, including having an understanding of the full details of the vendor's program, policy, contract and/or commitment. Maintains oversight of all aspects of the vendors' contract(s) to ensure that all contractual obligatory components are in compliance and fulfilled satisfactorily.

Evaluates, design, install, implement, tests, and performs problem isolation and resolution of physical server environment. Including the Installation and Management of VMWare across multiple host including the management of the VM Servers and tools. Work with IT Security office to establish and maintain User Groups and polices for enabling, disabling and removing user accounts including breach risk notification, assessments and corrective action/notification. Ensures the prevention, detection, containment and correction of security breaches. Implement forensics and corrective action(s) as necessary. Monitors systems for intrusions. Stays up to date on Malware, virus and other security threats. Provide assistance with litigation holds, risk assessment, e-discovery and share permissions Day-to-day management of domain controllers including checking application/system logs, security logs, Group Policy Object (GPO) administration, troubleshooting, and management Other duties as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission Special Notes:
