The Business Systems team within Stanford's Office of Sustainability and Business Services develops and operates a suite of systems that address utilities data integration, data visualization and analytics, and utilities resource efficiency. We are seeking a motivated IT Systems Analyst to support operation and maintenance of existing solutions, as well as expansion of features and capabilities.

The ideal candidate will come from an information systems, analytics and/or business management background with proven industry work experience in project management. The Analyst must be highly motivated and effective individual with ability to manage multiple projects in a complex and dynamic work environment at Stanford. This is an exciting opportunity for a business systems practitioner to be part of one of the top institutions consistently recognized for its leadership in campus sustainability and business prudence.

Capture, model and map business requirements. Work with business partners to understand directions and priorities to assure the delivery of information technology solutions. Develop custom solutions and system integrations.

We are recruiting to fill two (2) full-time IT Systems Analyst positions.

  • Understand business processes and translate into system solutions.
  • Working with vendor support perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting for the implemented vendor solutions as needed. Perform data input corrections and overrides for several key history services.
  • Assist with feasibility studies of enhancement requests, identifying options and recommending an IT solution.
  • Assist the program manager in developing project scope, cost, resources, impact and schedule.
  • Create business requirements, including business rules, quality attributes, performance goals, external interfaces and constraints.
  • Develop and operate ETL processes and data flow pipelines
  • Collaborate with LBRE IT on application development, infrastructure and desktop support
  • Collaborate with the vendors, business partners and test team to create and execute system test plans, user-acceptance testing and rollout.
  • Perform production support activities, including triaging issues, evaluating patches and fixes, assessing impact, and implementing solution.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis to solve problems, identifying gaps and issues that minimize system modification and maintenance; make recommendations, including discovering new approaches or applications.
  • Develop documentation for custom solutions and integrations. Develop functional specifications to ensure compliance with system development lifecycle methods. * - Other duties may also be assigned MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    Education & Experience:
    Bachelor's degree and eight years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated experience with both process and data modeling.
  • Demonstrated experience with fit/gap analysis.
  • Understanding of relational databases and ETL concepts.
  • Strong understanding of the components of web applications.
  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to program or script
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with minimum direction.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish effective, ongoing relationships with clients, staff and management.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and work under pressure in high stress situations. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with SQL, Python, JSON, XML, text processing techniques
  • Experience with Windows operating system and script automation
  • Familiarity with time series data sets
  • Familiarity with Oracle BI, asset management and inventory
  • Knowledge of advanced Excel capabilities Certifications and Licenses: None
  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sit, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, use a telephone.
